Act-On Elected to Forbes “America’s Most Promising Companies” list
Our biggest company news last week was landing a coveted spot on the Forbes “America’s Most Promising Companies” list. This is a list of one hundred select U.S.-based, privately held, high-growth companies. Forbes takes an investor’s approach to uncovering fast-growing businesses with brilliant prospects, and determines list members through in-depth scrutiny of holistic factors. It’s an honor we share with two other Portland, Oregon-area companies: Elemental Technologies and Jama Software.
This accolade is further validation of the premise we bet the company on: the “last-mover advantage.” When we chose to enter the marketing automation field, skeptics said it was too crowded. In contrast, we believed there was a pointed need for an offering that was in tune with what customers were actually asking for. By being the last one in, we were able to observe the false starts and failed implementations of other vendors, and craft a simple package that gives our customers an insanely productive experience that they didn’t think even existed.
It helps that our team is packed with people with deep first-hand experience in enterprise email and complementary applications, and that our founder, Raghu Raghavan, is a CTO as well as a CEO. The Act-On SaaS is clean and simple, known for its ease of use and implementation. But under the hood, it’s got a very powerful engine and delivers a lot of horsepower. Easy to drive, yet capable of winning the race.
Technology alone doesn’t make a winning company. We invested in customer success by ensuring that every one of our customers has a designated client success manager committed to making them successful with our product. Surveys, reviews and case studies prove that this works for our customers. We pioneered a pricing model that gives customers more flexibility while simultaneously reducing risk. We’re committed to innovation not for its own sake, but for the express purpose of further empowering our customers.
At Act-On, we’ve built a culture of empowerment and entrepreneurialism in every single employee around three simple concepts: simplicity of solution, attention to detail, and personal accountability. We’re building a great company, and we believe the qualities that Forbes recognized are the qualities that will ensure our success for the long term.
